How to apply?

How may an organization apply for a grant?

Organizations seeking a grant should first submit a letter of inquiry to briefly describe its background and governance, its purpose, and its achievements. The letter should identify the problem or need that will be met, the population that will be served and the estimated dollar amount of assistance sought. The letter of inquiry should be signed by the senior officer within the organization and be submitted to the President of the Foundation. Letters of inquiry received by facsimile may not be considered. If confirmation of receipt is required, organizations are encouraged to follow up with an email or telephone call. Please do not send any mailing to the Foundation requiring a recipient's signature.

Letters of inquiry may be sent at any time during the year. However, inquiry letters received less than two weeks prior to a grant application deadline date may be considered in the following grant cycle. Cape Fear Memorial Foundation staff will review the letter of inquiry and notify the interested organization of the Foundation’s desire to learn more of the organization’s plans. If a project is deemed eligible under the Guidelines of the Foundation, a Grant Application will be forwarded to the organization for additional information. Once the application is returned, it will be reviewed and presented to the Board for a final decision.
